  • Provides the management of the Informal Economy. more.
    To contribute to a clean and healthy environment and vibrant economy for the eThekwini area, through responsible solid waste management practices, recognising solid waste as a useful resource wherever possible. more.
    Provides support services to citizens in order to enable them to influence decisions taken by the Council and thereby leading to improved co-operation and partnership between citizens and the Council. more.
    Supports a wide range of economic development programmes that enable City-wide growth and sustainable development, extensive mobility and transport planning and ongoing customer service innovations more.
    Provides and maintains a fully solvent defined benefit pension fund. more.
    The Economic Development Unit (EDU) is mandated to promote economic development; job creation, economic transformation and economic intelligence within the municipal region. more.
    To provide electricity, public lighting and other energy services that satisfy our customers and community whilst maintaining sound business principles. more.
    Provides infrastructure to residents, businesses and building services to Council management. more.
    The Strategic Transport Planning Department has continued to fulfil the ETA’s statutory obligations in terms of the National Land Transport Act, developing comprehensive action plans, and preparing the Integrated Transport Strategy. more.
    The eThekwini Health Unit provides comprehensive primary health care services to communities, thus enabling people to practice healthy lifestyles for a better quality of life. more.
    To facilitate and actively participate in housing delivery and the creation of sustainable human settlements in the eThekwini Municipality area more.

    The Treasury Cluster is responsible for managing the City’s accounting function and cash flow, making investments, raising external finance through bond issues, conducting its banking transactions, and safeguarding its assets and liabilities. more.
    eThekwini Water and Sanitation is a unit of the eThekwini municipality and is responsible for the provision of water and sanitation services to all customers in the municipality. more.
