The city of Durban is managed by eThekwini Municipality, whose elected Council serves to facilitate the provision of infrastructure, services and support to the people of eThekwini.
The Council comprises an elected Mayor, Councillors, executive committee and several implementation committees. The eThekwini Mayor is Councillor James Nxumalo.
The City is governed by a 205-member city council, which elects the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Speaker.
